The company on Thursday introduced a new flatter logo for its homepage, just a week after it was rumored to be working on a new look and sources familiar with the matter denied an update was under way.
The news comes alongside an update to its Google Bar, which now includes an app launcher at the top of the screen for platforms such as Maps, YouTube and Gmail, which stays the same across platforms (mobile to desktop).
“As part of this design, we’ve also refined the color palette and letter shapes of the Google logo,” the company said in an official blog post. “We’ll be rolling out this update across most Google products over the next few weeks, so keep an eye out and let us know your thoughts.”
The new logo was spotted last week hiding within the Chrome Beta for Android browser. It was later pulled after tech site Ars Technica reported the find. See below for its comparison of the new and old logos.
